Diatom Clock Face
As many others, I first came across Diatoms in the beautiful plates of Ernst Haeckel. But with the increasing scientific interest in algae, I decided to look at the more contemporary representations, and was blown off my feet by the order and complexity of their natural structures. The structure of the Diatom Arachnoidiscus prompted me to make a clock face during the workshop with Rod Kelly. This project will come back to life as soon as I have an access to the studio where I can continue working with raising and chasing metal
